Let me be clear right out of the gate—I’ve never written a blog before. But don’t confuse that with inexperience. Because what I have done is lead. I’ve stood on muddy sidelines with U6 soccer teams learning how to kick. I’ve walked into high school locker rooms full of broken spirits and walked out with champions. I’ve coached competitive teams that punched far above their weight. I’ve lost heartbreakers and won titles. I’ve seen sports tear people down—and then watched it build them back stronger than ever.

So no, I’m not a blogger. I’m a builder. I build leaders. I build systems. I build legacies.

And this blog—Vykan Legacy—is my new locker room.

Who Am I? I'm Just Getting Started.

My name is Lee Burchett, and I’m fired up to launch this journey with you. I currently teach Digital Information Technology at the high school level, but my roots run deep in sports, leadership, and education.

I’m a proud graduate of Grand Canyon University—Lopes Up! I earned my Bachelor’s in Sports Management, followed by an MBA with an emphasis in Sports Business, and then said, “Why stop now?” and added a Master of Science in Leadership.

Most recently, I just completed the coursework for the Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA) certification through the NIAAA, and I’m counting the days until that certificate lands in my mailbox. It represents more than just professional development—it’s proof that I’m all in. This isn’t a hobby. This is mission.

What Have I Built?

I’m the author of the book Building Bridges Between Athletics and Community, a firestorm of passion and purpose for athletic leaders who want to do more than win games—they want to change lives.

I’ve created:

• The Legacy League, a movement and mindset for those committed to living and leading with excellence.

• Legacy Begins Here (free eBook) — A launchpad for aspiring champions and culture-shifters.

• The 12 Laws of Lasting Leadership, a no-fluff guide to leadership that doesn’t fade.

And now—I’m deep into writing my second book: The Greatest Among You — a high-powered, research-driven book on servant leadership and why it’s the future of business, education, and sports. It’s taking longer than planned, but trust me—it’s going to detonate when it drops.

Coaching: Where the Fire Was Lit

My journey in leadership was forged on the pitch. I’ve coached soccer at every level you can name:

• U6 recreational teams (a bunch of muddy shoes and miracle goals)

• High school squads (kids who turned into leaders)

• Highly ranked competitive teams (travel, pressure, pride)

• Even the amateur level, where the hunger to win becomes obsession

And through it all, one thing never changed: I’m addicted to growth, grit, and greatness. I live for competition. I thrive on building teams. And I believe with my whole being that sports are the greatest leadership incubator ever created.

A Tale of Legacy: The Game That Changed Me

There was a team that hadn’t won in twelve years. Twelve. That’s a whole generation of defeat.

They weren’t even supposed to compete. But I told those girls, “You were made for more than history. You were made to change it. ”We practiced harder than anyone. We built belief brick by brick. And that year—we didn’t just win games.

We became champions. Not just on the field—but in spirit, identity, and purpose. That’s legacy. That’s Vykan.
